Carbis Bay

We will be staying in Newquay but we are planning to make a day trip to St Ives.

The best option looks to be to park in Carbis Bay and take the train to St Ives. However, I was wondering where is the best place to park? I've seen that the actual train station has a free car park, but does it get full quickly (we are going next week)?

Thanks

Were doing that trip too

Apparently very difficult to Park in St ives itself.

we will either park in the park and ride at Lelant Saltings and take the train in, breaking the journey at Carbis Bay for a short look. Up to 4 people can travel all day for £8.00.

or we will park in st ives rugby club park and ride and take their bus in. This option drops you closer in and might be favourite as one of our party has a disability

Thanks for the reply. The Lelant Sailings park and ride looks good. That is probably the best option for us if there is little parking available at Carbis Bay.

There is very very limited parking at Carbis Bay, and it will cost you. The train from Lelant Saltings is the way to go.

Ok, thanks. Do you know if the Carbis station car park gets full quickly? I was just thinking about trying there first and going to Lelant Saltings if not.

You might just as well do the whole journey. It's quite short and one of the prettiest train journeys in the country.

The car park at Carbis Bay Hotel has limited spaces and they up the price dependant on the demand. I've seen the parking fee from anything between £2.00 to £8.00 per day. The car park at Carbis Bay Station may have spaces but, if it doesn't you will have to go back the way you came. Lelant Saltings park and ride is the way to do it. and, as has been said above, it's a fabulous train ride, sit on the right hand side as you go to St Ives.

Thank you all for the advice, we have just got back from a great few days in Cornwall.

In the end, we parked down by the Carbis Bay Hotel, as the other parking in Carbis Bay involved a steep walk down to the beach and the train station car park was full.

It cost us £10 for the day, which although expensive, allowed us to walk into St Ives using the coastal path as well as then going on the beach at Carbis Bay afterwards.
