I would drive!

But if you don't have a car, train or coach to Derby, and take a local bus.

Alternatively if you want to make more of a challenge of it get a train to Derby, and hike to Bakewell following the Derwent Valley Heritage Way for much of the journey. First night stop at Belper (e.g The Lion Hotel)- about 14 miles. Second Night stop at Matlock (e.g Ellen House)- another 14 miles. 3rd Day continue up the river to Rowley, from where you can cut across country to Bakewell on footpaths

As a plain transport question take a train from St Pancras London to Derby then another train to Matlock. The last part can only be done by bus.

There will also be a National Express bus service from London to Derby. This probably starts to London Victoria coach station. You can transfer in Derby to a bus going direct to Bakewell.

You should be able to get more guidance from http://www.transportdirect.info but check with bus or train operators to see if timetables are up to date.
