I am looking for somewhere to take my sister for her birthday. We went to Castleton last year and had a really good time but I'd like to try somewhere different. I would like to stay in village pub with a few other pubs within walking distance. We enjoy good food and real ales and would like to go on a few walks. We live on the nottinghamshire boarder - can anyone reccommend anywhere?

Youlgreave's a nice village that might fit your criteria. I've stayed in a cottage there but it'd be easy to find which pubs did accommodation - I think from memory the Bull's Head does.

visitpeakdistrict.com/html/… gives about 25 Inns within 50 miles of Bakewell.

One, the Farmyard, is in Youlgreave. Of the others Hathersage and Castleton are villages with several pubs. Ashbourne is a town with lots of pubs - the establishment listed is a restaurant rather than a pub.
