You might try Coombe Cellars at Combeinteignhead, a short drive from Shaldon along a very narrow road.

Hi. Halfway between Teignmouth and Dawlish on the Teignmouth Road is the Smugglers. They do nice carvery and really good evening meals. Large car park and also very near bus stops. Its the no2 bus from Teignmouth outside WHSmiths.

And Coombe Cellars isn't bad.

The pier on Teignmouth front might be open in the evenings in October, not too sure.

If you head on into Dawlish Warren there's The Boathouse which is child friendly.

Hope this helps,if I can think of anything else I will let you know.

As others have suggested the Coombe Cellars would be a good choice.

The Hare and Hounds between Newton Abbot and Torquay is popular too.

About a 20 minute drive from Teignmouth is the Swans Nest at Exminster - fairly convenient for a walk along the towpath of the Exeter Canal.
