looking for a cheap 4 night holiday in devon

Me, my partner and our daughter are looking to go on a 4 night holiday to devon on the 22nd august to 26th. We are not bothered where we stay, eg hotel, b&b or caravan. All prices i've seen so far are over 400pound!! Any ideas where would be cheaper? Eg 130-200.

How about a tent. You won't get much else over the August bank holiday for £40-£50 per night.

They rent caravans at Woolacombe - and Morte, which is virtually the same place. Tried to find the one I was thinking of but can't.

As it will be the height of the season try to find one where people rent out their own caravan as you stand more chance of getting one. They can be lovely inside, really big.

There are some smaller B & B's around here too.

Just thought - you may have trouble with only 4 days. Most places will only do a week during the summer. So maybe best to look for B & B that hasn't got bookings. It can be done, I did last minute in Cornwall on a Bank Holiday in August. Hard going to find and definitely a weird place when I got there but turned out brilliantly. So keep going.

Ok thanks for the information. Im looking into camping atm but getting the equipment.from scratch is proving to be expensive. I will look for caravans but they seem so expensive too. I may just end up going abroard for a week for a few hundred more! Thanks again x

Your budget is very low for 4 nights but how about a Travel Lodge just checked out the one in Torquay Devon approx 47.00 per nigh for the whole family

You will have to find your own food but this can be done at a reasonable price at the sea side

Torquay is one of my favourite destinations - plenty to do on a budget with a child

You can usually get a cheeper Travel Lodge if you book early but dont hang about as it can soon get more expensive

There is a lovely Premier Inn right on the sea front in Torquay but I suspect this will far exceed your budget

I am puzzled by your comment that you 'may just end up going abroard (Sic) for a week for a few hundred more!'.

Why have a budget of just £130 - £200 for 4 nights in Devon, yet be prepared to 'splash out' in a different country? It seems odd that you are not prepared to spend £200 '+ a few hundred more' in Devon (which should vastly increase your chance of finding something), yet are willing to do so for a trip elsewhere....

Because i'd rather go abroad than devon... I don't see why this is a problem to you?

I did into premier inn etc thankyou... In the end we have decided to invest in camping equipment so that we can go away for the weekend when it pleases us. We will camp in august for our four days then we've got the equipment there ready for next year. Our 4 year old can't wait! Thanks for the help

I didn't say it was a problem, just odd. Why go on holiday somewhere when you'd rather be somewhere else?
