Somewhere to stay

We are looking for somewhere to stay for three nights first week in November. We prefer North or Mid Devon and either a hotel with an indoor pool as the weather may be bad or a pub with good food and a nice bar.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Perhaps Lynmouth? It, and it's 'twin' Lynton up the cliffs near vertically, are nicknamed 'Little Switzerland' and sit on the wild North Devon coast close to the Somerset boarder. You have walks at Watersmeet and the Valley of the Rocks nearby and you're not far from Porlock Weir, 'Doone country' and Arlington Court (a National Trust property).

For good food and a place to stay you could try the Rising Sun:

Food is pricey but very nice and family have stayed there and loved it as a traditional pub/hotel combo.

Alternately, but less picturesque you could stay at the Barnstaple Hotel and Spa on the Pottington Business Park in Barnstaple, which has a heated indoor pool and gym available:

Barnstaple is a bustling little town with the pretty Pannier Market and Butchers Row, it is also well placed for trips to most places in North Devon as the main roads and bus services run from or through here.

How about Hunters Inn, Heddon Valley, Parracombe? No pool, but it's in a beautiful setting and I think fulfils your criteria of a pub with good food and a nice bar!! http://thehuntersinn.net/index.html
