Best Choice in Torquay

I am coming to Torquay for the first time next weekend for a conference.

Im looking for a good standard/good feeling hotel that is not too far from everything [will not have a car].

I read a great article about "Secret Hotels of Cornwall"

Is there such a list for Devon, specifically Torquay?.

. Something special for a couple of nights peace and luxury. Sea views would be lovely but not absolutely necessary.

I look forward to your suggestions. Thank you

There is the english riviera guide, should be able to get that in travel agents.

Places i can suggest

Haytor Hotel - 2 minutes walk to the harbour

Clevedon Hotel

Meadfoot Bay Hotel - both 10 minutes walk from harbour

Marstan Hotel - boutique style - 10 minute walk from Harbour

None of these have sea views, these are hard to come by to be honest.

Hope this helps

Last year my wife and I stayed at the Haytor Hotel and we loved it !!

We didn't have a sea view but it was peaceful and a very short walk to downtown. The breakfast was very good. :)))

Have just returned home from Torquay.

Thank you to all for your help. Especially C T25.

Meadfoot Bay Hotel had a minimum 2 night stay.. so we chose The Marston.

Ive nothing to compare it to.. but it must have been the best choice!!

The hospitality was absolutely wonderful.

Will write a review in the next few days.

We also ate dinner in The Orange Tree. Fabulous.

Lunch in Prezzo was very good, except for the grumpy waitress.
