Getting to Cockington and Babbacombe from Torquay harbour

What's the best way to get to Cockington and Babbcombe from Torquay harbour? They don't look very far so I'd be happy to walk on a nice day if they are within a reasonable walking distance? Or would we be better catching the bus? Prefer not to take the car so we can have a drink if we want to.

Thank you!

From Torquay Strand, the buses to Babbacombe (St.Marychurch) are routes 11 and 32 - the are very frequent on weekdays so no need to download a timetable.

For Cockington, take the number 12 bus from the strand (headed for Brixham) and get off at Cockington Lane...from there it's about a half mile walk on the level...

OR you can walk, it'll take about an hour at a leisurely pace..

Thanks for all your replies. I might see what the weather is like first before deciding on mode of transport! :-)

There's a nice walk along to Cockington (down cockington lane from the seafront by Livermead House Hotel) and after the first bit of roadway there is a footpath off the road most of the way into Cockington, with wooden walkways over streams etc. You can always take a horse & carriage ride back from Cockington village to the seafront as well.

We have quite often walked Torquay to Babbacombe and back again(several times with a pushchair) and found it a nice leisurely walk with safe footpaths all the way.

There is a 62 bus that will take you directly to Cockington Village. It runs between 10am and 4pm, Monday - Saturday and it is every 40 minutes from Torquay Harbourside.
