Swanage New Year's Eve 2013

Hi

We are going to swanage for New Year's Eve with a few friends and just wanted to know what to expect. Is there alot of pubs, do we need tickets?

We are staying at the pines hotel, I think this is just outside but close enough to get a taxi to and from the square.

Any comments would be appreciated, where to go etc.

Thanks

Hi, we are going there for New Year too!

There's not loads of pubs but just enough. Everything is very close together in the town centre so easy to move between each place.

Not sure if you need tickets - I doubt it very much. Would recommend the little cocktail bar in the High Street called Snack Bar, as well as the Ship Inn opposite there and there's another little pub on the corner which is also good. You'll soon see where to go if you head into the town centre. There is usually a big street party on as well so that should be good.

The Pines isn't too far at all. You could easily walk it but the taxis are so cheap that you may as well get a taxi. Will only cost a few pounds.

Hope that helps and have a good new year in Swanage!

There is 6 or 7 decent boozers in swanage all pretty close to each other, everone is in fancy dress, the pubs serve booze in plastic glasses so you can go outside and join in the street party.. there is talk of DJs playing in the street!! i live in swanage and will be joining in for the first time and cant wait!! enjoy :-)

Hi brilliant atmosphere in Swanage New Years Eve, everyone made such an effort with their fancy dress but what is wrong with the pubs, the music they play is terrible, depressing even, no one was dancing. What is wrong with putting a mixture of dance music on? disappointed.

Just another comment on Swanage New Years Eve, besides the pubs playing rubbish music, there were no fireworks and no singing Auld Lang syne. Why does the Swanage Council not make more of an effort, after all Swanage New Year is unique and people really make an effort, why doesnt the Council.

<<<Why does the Swanage Council not make more of an effort, >>>

Why should the Council waste tax-payers money helping some people to get drunk - there are many more important causes to support in times of austerity

Swanage Town Council already promotes a number of events throughout the year.

Swanage also comes under Purbeck District Council and Dorset County Council if you want to do some lobbying.

In times of austerity New Years eve is important because it promotes the town and draws people in from other areas that might otherwise go elsewhere. In other words it is good for business therefore an effort should be made.
