BBQ, campfire on beach in Sussex ??

Hi, we recently drove along the beach in a taxi at Bexhill and noticed quite a few people bbq'ing and having fires on the beach and many campervans, so am guessing people planned to stay overnight. Does anyone know exactly where this is please ? and if it is legal ? We have a motorhome and usually stay on sites but would love this experience with our kids for just 1 night. We don't have to go to Bexhill, it is just an area we noticed.

Thanks

Floss

I would suggest you be rather careful before just lighting a BBQ on any beach, even if there are other people already doing so.

It was reported in the local news that several people had their BBQs confiscated and were asked to leave the beach recent, as they were flouting the no BBQ regulations that have relatively recently been introduced on beaches in several Sussex towns. It seems local authorities have some sort of enforcement officer able to act on complaints from local residents who object to the smoke and burnt burger smells permeating their properties. The particular story I came across referred to people on Brighton beach right beside the no BBQs sign, but there was a sentence to suggest enforcement is taking place in other places as well!

However, if you get the weather and find somewhere legal, enjoy your BBQ. Great thing to do on a beach.
