Parking at the train station or long stat

We are in Brighton at The Old Ship Inn next weekend, we are driving a long way so train all the way was too expensive, so parking in Brighton eh?? The hotel kindly charges £135 a night then chucks in £20/day parking in their car park.

I can see that the train station has all day for £11, does anyone know if you need a rail ticket to purchase the all day ticket?

Just noticed the National Rail website says its £5 day parking Sundays & Bank Hols - is this too good to be true?

Its only half a mile from the hotel if this is true perhaps this is the best parking for us. Can anyone confirm these prices?

yep, prob the cheapest parking anywhere in town (on a Sunday...)

It'll be empty on Sundays/Bank Hols as its used for commuters.

Its a bit of a trek to the Old Ship if carrying heavy bags tho, but its all down hill on your way there. 15-20min walk prob or £7 cab?

Parking at rail stations is nearly always officially for rail passengers only. In reality it's hard to police, particularly if you buy the ticket from a machine.

Handy information re parking at the station - we use the Old Ship when visiting Brighton -

The good thing about the Ships car park is that it is secure our car is usually parked in its underground spaces - the cost hasnt really been an issue as the NCP car parks are about the same price and driving around Brighton is a bit of a nightmare if you are not familiar with its streets

But if you use a taxi from the station you wont really save much - a pound or two and fighting your way through Brightons very busy streets with suit cases
