Is the travelodge on the seafront as bad as they say?

My family and parents (party of 7) are going to Brighton in July to see my daughter graduate. There will be 3 elderly grandparents in the party but all the hotels are very expensive and we have to be there for 2 nights. Have looked at the 2 travelodges but reviews dont seem that good. We are travelling 260 miles so want a decent nights sleep but the cost for this trip is going up by the minute! Any help appreciated

We stayed one night at the Travelodge on Preston Road last July. Not teh best hotel I'd ever stayed in but if all you want is a bed then it's OK (and it was cheap). You wouldn't want to be spending a lot of time in the hotel and I should imagine it could get rowdy at weekends.

That's a different Travelodge. Brighton Seafront Travelodge is on West Street. I didn't stay as was on a day trip, but clocked its location - next to the big Oceana nightclub/Odeon cinema complex.

Stay in Lewes or one of the surrounding villages in a B&B. Much cheaper and quieter. Drive the 15 minutes into Brighton as and when you need to.

Have stayed at the Best Western Princess Marine Hotel in Hove - much quieter than Brighton and Free parking which is a bonus in Brighton The rates are quite reasonable for brighton having paid approx 120 per night for a double sea front room B&B - Transport links into Brighton easy by bus but we usually enjoy the stroll a long the front which is a mile or so

Keep an eye out for special offers from hotel chains have got very good deals from Barcelo The old ship on tthe sea front 200 or so two night B&B for two plus evening meal on one night - the hotel has parking at 23 per night which is reasonable for Brighton and your car is safe - dont have a sea front room - too noisy

avoid both the TL & PI in town, unless you want to be surrounded by drunken stag & hens. There are many decent affordable B&Bs in town, or even look at Jurys by the Station.

@Rosie1959's recoms are good equally

Hi Bojangles,

Will there be stags and hens on a Wed, Thurs? We have to hire a mini bus to bring our party down then fuel, then parking, then £25 tickets each for our guests, then food for our guests so want to keep anything else down without staying in a fleapit. We have to pay for 4 rooms so looked at travelodge as it would be £100 each for 2 nights. Looked at hotels locally and some are £200 per night! B & B would be fine as you get breakfast but would have to be okay as have found that some of these older buildings are just tired out and musty.

ah, on a week day, you'll be fine at the Brighton Seafront TL (bottom of West St).

go room only, some nice placers for brunch close by.

Really, Bo? When I come in to the station at night, there are hens nearly every night of the week these days. Weeknights are the new weekends, it seems. ;-)

You may prefer the Jury's or Best Western hotels that Bo and Rosie recommended above, in any case.
