Brighton transportation?

Do we need any type of transportation once we arrive into the train station in Brighton or can we just walk around and see everything of interest on foot? We will be taking a day trip in mid June originating from Victoria Station.

Yes, Brighton is very walkable. It's a 10-to 15-minute walk from the station to the seafront, and the same from the station to the Royal Pavilion, for example.

It's a very good pub, that serves beers brewed by the impressive Dark Star brewery. If you like beer (or cider - hard cider as you'd describe it) then you must pop in. Don't expect anyone to ask you if you'll be eating - the best you'll get is filled rolls and pork scratchings. You might not even get a seat, it's tiny and very popular. But it's one of the very best town pubs.

You can definitely walk everywhere. It is a very small city. If you're here for just 1 day you might like to make a list of where to eat, where to get a great coffee (Taylor's on the right hand side of Queens Road, the road that leads directly from the station to the sea), where to avoid (West Street at night - seriously - the same road as Queens Road but changes name).

There are lots of venues with live music but if it is day time I guess the pier, the wheel, the Laines and the beach. You can get some very yummy food at many local cafes, try Kensington Gardens (google it) as there is every type of food there: veggie, vegan, gluton free, meaty etc. Also Snoopers Paradise (a kind of junk but there might be a diamond, kind of shop), a great bookshop ALL independent, no chains.

The Evening Star is good, food also good, there is a great little fabric shop and a camera shop right by it.

Hope that was of some help - you can pick up a map at the station.

Pack something warm just in case as it can be very windy.

Try this visitbrighton.com/things-to-do/places-to-vis…

And also consider coming in May as we have the Festival on then and a day will not be enough, there is so much between that and thr fringe and the artist's open houses!

For a day trip in June, you can do a lot better than the Evening Star real ale Boozer, with all those pyshed up smokers huddled outside!

At Brighton Station you can also buy a cheap day bus ticket. (£3) - will cover all Brighton and Hove bus services for the day. Brighton has a good bus network and many end up/pass the rail station. Check the web site for details.

We unfortunately can't come in May. We are getting on a cruise ship on June 17th. We arrive into London on Sat. June 15th. We will spend the day in London on Sat. and only have the one day to explore Brighton. We have been to London many times and have always wanted to take a trip to Brighton but never had the time.

Thank You to everyone for your great tips.
