Bus trip between London and Rye

My husband and I are planning to be in London next weekend and would like to take a day trip to Rye on Sunday, October 31. We would prefer to travel by bus rather than train but we have been unable to locate any bus operators that offer such a day trip. Any suggestions?

Any reason for not wanting to go by train? You might have to reconsider. Sunday is not the best day for travelling by bus. National Express coaches travel from London Victoria coach station to Hastings, then you'd take a local Stagecoach bus to Rye. But, the National Express service departs at 15:00 taking over 3 hrs so isn't suitable for a day trip. Stagecoach buses only depart 1 every 2 hrs on Sunday between Hastings and Rye.

Southeastern's high speed train from London St Pancras to Ashford International only takes 40 mins, the change for the 20 min journey to Rye by Southern trains. I've looked and can't see any engineering work on this date.

It would be quicker to take the train though. I have experience of taking the National Express from London to Hastings and it took about 2 and 1/2 hours or so, and than you would need to get on the 100 bus run by stagecoach to Rye. I would say it's a bit longwinded for a day trip?
