Afternoon tea for birthday celebration?

I am looking for a lovely place to take a friend for a special afternoon tea in October so will most probably be based inside not out.

We will be coming from outside of the area so would prefer somewhere close to or in a village so we could go and explore afterwards. Lots of the other reviews are quite old so any ideas for where is good now. Thanks.

Lovely place / setting, : www.bucklandmanor.co.uk/fine_dining.asp… - could stroll around small picturesque village, - or viist nearby Broadway if you'd be looking for a few shops before/afterwards etc.
