Looking for Cotswolds advice

My adult daughter and I are staying a week in late May at both The White Swan in Stratford Upon Avon and the Lygon Arms in Broadway. Any must-sees that can be recommended? It's our first trip to England, we live in Texas in the U.S.

No must-sees. Just tootle about by car or on foot and enjoy the countryside and twee villages. That's all there is.

We won't have a car, but for two of those days we have private jaunts scheduled with a guide who lives in the area. Interested in history of the area, antique and novelty shopping, love to see some old castles or manors. (thanks)

There are dozens of posts asking this question on the Cotswold forum, suggest having a read around, then come up with an itinerary which we can critique.

For a start, where is the guide taking you ?

You could go to Warwick Castle (although it is a bit Disney these days). Not Cotswolds but the new and old Coventry Cathedrals are not far away, although thanks to the Luftwaffe Coventry isn't exactly pretty any more. Carlecote Park is a taxi ride from Stratford Upon Avon. Royal Leamington Spa is quite nice. You can get a bus to Coughton Court from Stratford.

Try Sudeley Castle or Blenheim Palace. They should keep you busy....

I was thinking of Sudeley Castle as well. Batsford Arboretum near Moreton-in-Marsh should also be lovely that time of year--I think that's the place with the raptors, too. From Broadway of course its a lovely (if steep) walk up to Broadway Tower, although IIRC its a "folly" and not a real castle ruin! The church in Chipping Campden is very fine as well--not a cathedral, but impressive.

If you like gardens definitely go to Sudeley.. we spent hours wandering around the gardens and had very little time left for the castle itself! It is the most wonderful amazing place.

Seconding the recommendation for Charlecote (not Carlecote) House - a beautiful manor house with Shakespearean connections just outside Stratford. Lovely grounds too. Easy by taxi from Stratford.

When staying in Broadway don't miss morning coffee or afternoon tea in the garden of Buckland Manor Hotel, an experience you will never forget. Buckland is a walk of about 2 miles or a few minutes in a taxi.
