Milton-on-Sea

Hi there

Has anyone been to this village? I am looking for a picturesque seaside village for the May bank holiday for a group of friends. Nothing too far away from London as traffic is usually dreadful. Seems to have a beautiful coast but has anyone been there???

Thx!

Do you mean Milford on sea, to the east of Bournemouth?

Apologies for not getting back sooner, Milford is a nothing special sort of place ( locals won't thank me for that) but has nice views over to the isle of wight. The beach is not far away from anywhere there, but a bit pebbly and obviously theres the better ( more facilities at Bournemouth ) beaches not too far away. Further away is Studland Bay with popular beaches including a nudist one, if you're feeling adventurous! If you like a long pebbly walk then Hurst Castle is 2 miles along a shingle spit from Milford. The new forest is very beautiful and within a 15 minute drive, or even a ferry over to the isle of wight from lymington. A pictureseque estuary is close to Beaulieu at Bucklers hard.

Hi Happy01,

Milford has a lovely coastal view looking out to the Needles & Isle of Wight, a shingle beach and a tiny village centre; 3 pubs & a restaurant.Kind of retired folk theme. Have you looked at West Wittering? Could be closer to you and has a pretty village with scattered rural pubs, sandy beach and decent parking if you get there early!

Best of all, if you can bear the traffic is Lulworth cove, Dorset. Magnificent coastline, near vertical climbing, chocolate box village with gorgeous tea rooms, duck pond with over fed occupants, beach at Durdle Door, Kimmerridge flint village, really heart stopping. But you would have to plan for longer drive, or perhaps train to Ware & cycle hire?

Good Luck for next year,

Fluffijo
