Fish and chips / pub mea before we catch the ferry to france

Hi

We'll be catching the overnight ferry to france from Portsmouth in a couple of weeks and are hoping someone can recommend somewhere casual to get a bite to eat in Portsmouth before we leave - either a pub or maybe decent fish and chip shop etc.

Near the ferry terminal would be good but we'll be in the car and could drive into the city centre / or harbour area if it's possible to park?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Hi,

You could head into the harbour area. "The Hard"

Theres a pub called the "The Lady Hamilton" that does a nice roast dinner every night £5.99

there is also a chip shop, and a take away burger bar in thesame road. There is limited parking in the road.

or you nip into "Gunwharf Quays"

http://www.gunwharf-quays.com/

Lots of different places to eat with a nice view of the harbour, Parking on site.

both places only a 3-5 min drive to the ferry

Or try the Sovereign pub by the Ferry Port, a pub next to the Travelodge - 250 metres away from the port. Does selection of 'pub chain' food. Will certainly do the trick, not exactly in a touristy area, but good grub.
