Fastest would be to have a taxi waiting for you at the ferry landing, cheapest would be a Megatrain journey to Waterloo, then Tube to LHR.

Inbetween those there's a direct National Express coach service to LHR from the ferry landing

But who is "we", when are you travelling, when do you arrive at Portsmouth and when are you due to fly out from LHR

Hi there,

The fastest way would be by a pre-book taxi around £60, takes around 1h 20m, for up to 4 people depending on how much luggage you all have.

Trains are not direct, but if booked well in advanced can be brought cheaper than the standard price, you would need a £6-7 cab ride to the train station.

Coach travel would be a min of 3 hours some times up to 4h+ depending if you can get a direct service , from £16 pp again needs to be book early for the cheap tickets http://www.nationalexpress.com

You can enter the dates yourself to get a better idea of prices. If you need help with a taxi, message me with the dates how many people, what terminal you are going to,and i'll get a price for you.

Another option:

Train to Woking (takes about 1 hr 15m) and then the Railair bus to LHR (about 50 minutes).

Bus is run by National Express

Obviously there would be time between connections.

However you may find a pre-booked taxi more convenient, especially if there are 2 or 3 of you - 4 plus luggage can be a problem!

I love your optimism that the fastest is also the cheapest :-)

A regular poster here, 'portsmouthdave' is a taxi driver. I suggest you pm him.
