Visiting Arundel Castle from Portsmouth

We are taking the train from London to Portsmouth. Staying overnight and then taking the ferrry to Cherbourgh. Is it easy to get from Portsmouth to Arundel Castle and back to Portsmouth or would it be way

out of our way.

Thanks

You can do it - but the problem is you'd be retracing half your steps.

If at all possible, try and do it on the way there - direct train from London Victoria to Arundel and then change at Barnham for any of the Portsmouth stations. But there's no left luggage at Arundel Station and it's a fair walk into town. There is a good taxi firm that we use right by the station (Castle Cars I think) - you could always give them a call and see what they suggest ?

Takes about an hour on the train from Portsmouth, 1 or 2 changes.
