Parking in portsmouth

Iam going to france on the ferry as a foot passenger with my 2 children.

The terminal car park is £90.00 for the week!

I rang Portsmouth tourist office and they said I could park at the hilton hotel instead in Farlington.

I looked at the website and it looks like they charge £2.00 a day for resident. But Iam not a resident and not too sure if I could do that. Any ideas?

Does anybody know the cost for a taxi from Hilton to ferry terminal?

No, but it is often suggested here, and many do.

Try a UK forum search, i'm sure there are some old posts on the subject...

Why not just park on the road?

Try looking at "bransbury road" in Southsea and get a taxi both ways.

On a point of order Dave, Bransbury Road is actually Eastney :0P or was when I grew up around therte

Surely security would be a concern if you're gonna leave a car for a while.

Might be an idea to do a survey of 'safe' streets to park in for the next time this question pops up?

As a taxi driver Dave probably has a better knowledge of suitable streets than most participants of the forum.

Of course no on-street parking can ever be 100% safe and you need to weigh the risk you are willing to take against the cost you are prepared to pay which will be affected by the value of the car and it's attractiveness to thieves.

An alternative to parking in Portsmouth would be for the OP to consider arriving in Portsmouth by public transport
