What to do this weekend??

Myself and a group of friends had originally planned to camping this weekend but as the weather looks runnish we are going to give that a miss and wondering what else to do. We want to find something in Herts / Beds area for 30 somethings with small kids. Are there any fetes, fairs, festivals in the area or can anyone recommend a good day out??

Thanks in advance

As old fashioned it sounds to suggest going to the Zoo, I've read some very positive comments about Whipsnade Zoo, its animals, and about the amazing views you get from it.

I have a vague recollection that radio 1's Chris Moyles (?) did a show from there earlier in the year. Very positive feedback they gave. So positive in fact that I'm going to give it ago myself one of these days, and I'm not really a zoo person:

The link has a printable 20% off voucher for the zoo. I'll do some checking and make sure its still valid if you think you might want to go:

St Alban's is also a good option. There is a market there, a number of shops. If you want something historical visit the Cathedral. The Waffle house is also a great option and kids will definitely love eating there! http://www.wafflehouse.co.uk/
