camping in Isle of wight and itinerary.

We are three guys came from india and the long weekend we are planning to visit Isle of Wight. we are going from london and planning to stay in the camp, this is the first time we are trying to stay in the tents. We are willing to know some good places to pitch up our tents. We are relying the public transports. Please advice us the Places to pitch up our tents and if you can provide some itinerary for our trip would me more helpful for us to continue......

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR SUGGESTIONS....

The following campsites are the easiest to access via public transport fron Ryde.

Kite Hill at Wootton - bus 9

Beaper Farm and Whitefield ( next to eac other) Between Ryde and Brading bus 2 and 3

Kite Hill is within walking distance of pubs and village shops.

Thanks for your update. here is our plan:

1. 24th May, reach West Cowes at around 10AM. Go to Needles park via Newport. Spend time till evening and move to Compton farm to setup camp.

2. Roam around in the beach till dark and stay at Compton park in the night.

3. Start early in the morning to Yarmouth to catch Island coaster bus service. Roam around the island.

4. 26th May start early in the morning and cover near by places. Leave in the afternoon to Southampton.

pls suggest.

Personally I wouldn't do what you are suggesting. For starters I'd Travel London Waterloo - Portsmouth- Ryde.

But if you wish to travel via Southampton....then consider staying nearer to Yarmouth- where you want to be next morning.

Is there a special reason for staying at Compton? If you had personal transport It would be easy, but carrying camping gear on the bus....You say this is your first time camping, then don't make it overly difficult for yourselves.

Bring your thermals and wellies. However warm it is during the day, it's cold at night.

I don't know anything about these sites. So you'll have to do your own research. To help others, please post a trip report on your return home.

West. Cowes: www.comfortsfarm.co.uk

Yarmouth: www.orchards-holiday-park.co.uk

www.luckettscampsite.com

Freshwater: www.heathfieldcamping.co.uk

I think this is near to Alum Bay: www.stoats-farm.co.uk
