Its impossible to say. It could be anything from zero with snow, ice, frost, to 5-10 deg C and raining to 15 deg C and sunny. The middle is more likely but it could be any of those and over a week it could be all of them.

Just take warm clothing and you should still have a good time if you are lucky with sun it will be great.

The lake District is one of the wettest areas in the UK, and March is generally one of the wetter months. However, you may experience a week of sunshine, with daffodils in bloom and newborn lambs gambolling all over the place; you never know till you get there.

I would definitely make the trip even if you're going in March. The Lake District is a beautiful place to go during any season. The only thing I would do is note that the weather forecasts for the Northwest of England frequently don't apply to the Lake District as it tends to have its own microclimate.

If you are looking for stunning lakes and mountain scenery you will find it - personally although I think the Cotswolds area is picturesque it isn't a patch on the Lakes..

It will probably rain, it will probably be windy, it will probably be sunny, it will probably be all, some or none of those things in one day

It may even snow

I would expect the Lake District to be wetter and colder than in the Cotswold. Also it is not as built up with little villages etc and the roads will not be as wide. But at this time of year you should be able to enjoy it for what it is and there not be hoards of people about. It has a beauty all of its own.Don't stray to far off main walks as if the fog comes down it wont be very pleasant for you and could get extremely cold.
