Sunday lunch for 15 with a view please!

We'd love to take our family out for a special anniversary for Sunday lunch. We definitely want a lovely view while eating (to introduce those in our family who are not converted lakeland lovers). Preferably over a lake to mountains. There will be about 15 of us. We'd prefer somewhere in the South lakes, Windermere, Coniston, that sort of area. The budget is flexible, we will pay for the right place but don't want to spend a fortune if there are hidden gems around a little cheaper. All suggestions most gratefully received! Thankyou.

We had a wonderful lunch at Holbeck Ghyll and the views are great. The service was perfect too.

The Punchbowl at Croisthwaite is very good too but it's the wonderful setting rather than the views from the windows that make this place so pretty.

Lastly the Drunken Duck.

The Inn on the Lake at Glenridding has a beautiful dining room with fantastic views over Ullswater and the mountains beyond. Food is excellent and you can retire to the beautiful lounge after your lunch to continue your celebrations. The hotel is in a great setting and is a perfect location for those members of your party to be introduced to the Lake District.

+1 for the Inn on the Lake. The views are indeed stunning. Good food too.

Mind you, Holbeck Ghyll probably has better food. Though I suspect it may also be quite a bit more expensive.

Miller Howe overlooks Windermere to the mountains beyond from an elevated position. It is a lovely hotel and has an excellent restaurant. They do a 4-course Sunday lunch for 27.50, which is not cheap but not outrageous for a special occasion.

If you do choose to eat here be sure to let them know you want a lake view when you dine. The hotel is in the South Lakes and easily accessible.

Have a lovely anniversary!

Thankyou all, for your most helpful replies. We had a really interesting morning, nosing around some of the most beautiful dining rooms in the country! On posters' advice we included Miller Howe, Holbeck Ghyll, The Punchbowl and the Drunken Duck and some others of our own. I was sorely tempted by the Langdale Chase, which surely has the best views of all, but in the end we have gone for the Old England Hotel on the waterfront at Bowness. They have a private room just the right size for us with a view onto the piers, the swans and over the lake. Not as majestic as over to the Langdales but my daughter is really keen on the swimming pool and spa which they offer free of charge to diners, so that swung it really. Three course Sunday lunch including a glass of wine for £23, so won't break the bank either. Once again, thankyou for the help.

Ah, I've stayed at that Hotel on a work 'do' and had that same view from my bedroom window - could hardly tear myself away from it. Have a wonderful time.
