Recommendations Please For Pubs With Real Roaring Fires

We are two couples coming to Keswick and have a penchant for real roaring fires so would be very grateful for any recommendations. If one of these pubs were to have a good reputation for food that would be an added bonus, though not essential as we shall scour Tripadvisor's restaurant reviews for Keswick too.

Thank you in advance.

The Kirkstile Inn at Loweswater is a drive - but is a great pub with a fire in a lovely location.

Thank you for the recommendations. My husband and I stayed at the Langdale Hotel & Spa about 18 months ago and went to The Britannia Inn then, it was very cosy. We are staying in Keswick and were intending to have one of our evenings in the centre of Keswick, hence avoiding the need for a driver.

Hi,

The Dog and Gun and The Skiddaw hotel and I think the Four In Hand all have real fires.

Hi Cate,

Do you know when the Dog + Gun took out the log fire? I know they were still using it last winter.

The Pheasant is great. Might be an idea to book if you'd like to eat though - it gets busy, even off-peak
