Best Fish & Chip Shop

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a really good fish and chip shop in Blackpool. For the past few years I have went to the one at Coral Island and it was always really good and value for money. However when we were at Blackpool in March we were served up a couple of Fish suppers that were disgusting. The fish was grey and did not smell too good.I complained and they just shrugged their shoulders.Needless to say I won`t be going back there.

My personal favourite is called the 273 and it is on Devonshire Road. Follow Warley Road which is directly north of the Hilton Hotel on the prom and it is the second main junction that you come to. It's on the left.

Only downside to this plaice (sorry couldn't resist) is that it closes at 8pm and is shut all day Sunday.

Another one to try is the Bispham Kitchen, on Red Bank Road where the illuminations finish to the north. Although this is a very touristy plaice and can get very very busy!

Have always had decent fish and chips from both plaices.

The "Bond Street Chippy" is a personal favourite, as well as one - can't remember the name of it now though - that sits opposite from where the old Rangers pub the "Union Bar" used to sit. Back in the days when I used to stay in Palatine Road all the time I couldn't resist nipping in there.

Not the most appealing looking place from the outside - nor is the Bond Street one - but it's the chips that count !!

If you have a car the best chippy to go to is 'The Cottage' on Newhouse Road in Marton. If you turn down Waterloo Road (in south shore directly opposite the small white windmill on the front) and follow that road until you get to a pub called the Oxford (I think) on your left, the HSBC bank over on the right. Turn right to cut across the road past the HSBC onto Newhouse Lane, The cottage is about 100 yards on the right. You can eat it and they have an amazing choice of fish!

My Mum goes on about the Ketch Inn beside Coral Island, however this year it shut very early when we went up for dinner about half 7.

My family has always gone to The Ketch for years; near Central Pier, think it's called Foxhall Street. We used to eat in tho' usual take-away available if you prefer. Massive portions and never disappointed. However, on a recent trip I noticed when passing that it's been taken over and re-named. Would be interested to hear if anyone has tried it recently.
