York to Lincoln - Bus or Train

I tried to find a ticket using the First Trans Pennine Express website for Tuesday February 8 for travel from York to Lincoln, but seem unable to get any results.

I would be willing to travel anytime during the day from York.

Can someone send me the proper links or other info for travel by bus or train.

Thanks!

Thanks for pointing out National Rail.

I did a search and came up with 8 hour journey from York to Lincoln.

I must be missing something when I use the site.

Any other hints?

Thanks.

http://tickets.eastcoast.co.uk

Takes from about 90 minutes, changing at Doncaster or Newark.

Single advance fares from about £7

90 - 120 minutes depending on trains during the day but later in the day it can take up to 3 hours with 3 changes of train needed.

Don't know how you get 8 hours

Sounds like a temporary glitch on the site - I can't reproduce it now

Would have been interesting to see the routing - you could have clicked on the "details" link

You can take a southbound train direct from York and change at any of the following for a reasonable journey time, but see notes:

- Doncaster. There are many trains from York to Doncaster. There are two routes that trains from Doncaster may take to reach Lincoln. One of them is hourly but is very, very indirect (via Sheffield) and slow. The other is infrequent but is direct and reasonably quick.

- Retford. Direct trains from York to Retford are rare. The onward connection to Lincoln is hourly and reasonably quick.

- Newark. Probably the best combination. Trains from York to Newark are reasonably common, and Newark to Lincoln is reasonable, too.

Thanks for all of the info.

Scan: Using Eastcoast, I see the options you pointed out.

There is a huge difference in pricing for web fares ranging from 11.60 to 26.60 BP. Is that predicated on buying the ticket early?

The fare for my wife and I for Feb 8 is a most reasonable 16.90 BP.

Would anyone know what the fare range might be if I merely walked up to the ticket counter and bought it on the spur of the moment?
