Liverpool with young kids - what to do?

Coming to Liverpool in July and looking for some ideas on where to go with kids aged 3 & 6. Staying for 2 days

Chavasse Park looks a good option - any other ideas?

We will be able to give you better advice if you tell us what you and your children enjoy doing. For example, if you enjoy art galleries, but don't want your kids to be bored, you can take them to the Tate, where they have drawing and activity books which keeps children happy while their parents browse. We need to know what your interestes are.

Chavasse Park doesn't really exist anymore since Liverpool One was built over much of it - even before, it was only a patch of grass in the city centre, with nothing else except the odd bench. The current green space is more attractive, but nothing to attract kids particularly.

Check out www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk as all the galleries/museums have activities for children.

www.albertdock.com has links to various attractions including the Yellow Duckmarine tours, which go around the city and the dock. Bugworld at the Dock may be of interest too.

You could combine a trip on the Mersey Ferry with a visit to Spaceport at Seacombe (Wirral side) to see the Wallace & Gromit in Space exhibition

Underwater Street is ideal if the weather's not great or you want to let them run riot with paint etc...www.underwaterstreet.com

An excellent indoor play area is the Yellow Submarine - good value too & the food/snacks are healthy as well for a change...www.yellowsub.co.uk

The museums are excellent for kids - bugworld is great. The Duck tours are a blast for kids of all ages...

There are some fantastic parks in the city too - Sefton Park is close to the city centre, a bit further out you've got the likes of Sefton Park. Or why not head out to Ainsdale to see the red squirrel's?

There's loads for kids in Liverpool!

I loved the Maritime Museum as a kid, it has some brilliant 'hands on' exhibits and in the main museum in the city centre, the aquarium was always a hit!

Ferry's museums toy shops

chavasse park is alas no more, well a token bit of grass left..

The main parks are on the outskirts..Sefton Park, Calderstones are nice...

The main parts of the city centre are pedestrianised, and some roads are bus and taxi only, so a lot of walking is in store, they should get tired
