impressive/unusual restaurants

Hi

I live in Liverpool but looking for some inspiration. My mom and sister are coming up next Saturday and I'd like to treat them to a nice lunch somewhere. We will be around the docks area (for the allergy show in the arena). I would like to take them somewhere with a nice view or somewhere a bit quirky, but not too far from the docks. I'm thinking something like the panoramic but a bit cheaper!

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Alma de Cuba maybe, very impressive old church with the altar and stained windows still intact, my father was an altar boy there. Not sure what the food is like though.

Theres also Leo's casino restaurant, very reasonable, nice food and good river views. You just need id to become a member before you can enter and if you fancy a flutter limit yourselves to a certain amount say £5 each, spend one at a time and it makes it more fun and social without breaking the bank. Not that l condone betting and l'm sure you'll be told there are much better places but worth thinking about

The panoramic may not be as unaffordable as you think - they have a bar menu with a mixture of meals and snacks. The bonus of being in the bar is that you get to sit right by the windows and get the best views. The draw back is that you don't get a proper table. http://www.panoramic34.com/BarMenu.php

In the Albert dock itself, it's difficult to find good food and a good view. Vinea is a bit different from the chains and posers' places, but they don't do full meals - it's a wine bar with platters of charcuterie or cheese and other snacks. Good wine choices too. The view of the dock and the new museum from there is pretty good too.

Macfarrag, l forgot about the bar area in Panoramic, l think that's probably better than the restaurant, although l've never eaten in the restaurant just the bar. Great views of Liverpool from there too, you need to book even in the bar area

Have you tried The Brasco Lounge at Mann Island? Whilst being neither unusual or particularly impressive - it does seems popular.

However, if you are going to a an event at The Echo Arena - I'd plump for Gusto at the dock itself - so much easier to get to the venue - especially in inclement weather!

Don't forget to book.

I'd suggest Camp & Furnace for somewhere not too far from the Arena that is quirky - not got the views of Panoramic but it is very good value for the food.

It is a pub but as far as pub food goes I would recommend the Bridewell especially as the opportunity to eat in your own cell definitely ticks the 'quirky' box.

Hope you don't mind me asking, where did you choose to eat in the end and what did you think of it?
