where to park/stay and travel in for match at anfield

Hi everyone,

My Partner and I will be back in the UK soon and want to catch a liverpool match at Anfield.

We are ok re tickets etc but my question is: where can we park and ride to the match?

or even stay overnight somewhere and travel in for the match.

We dont have time to spend in liverpool so its just the match,

we are driving down from the lake district and continuing on to north wales.

Is there a small village or town close enough that we can commute in for the game,

yet easy to get back on the road afterwards,

Any help of suggestions are appreciated,

Thanks,

Ben & Kate

Premier Inn Aintree

Its close to the Motorway

You would travel from the Lakes via the M6 and then the M58

Aintree is at the end of the M58 and the train station is opposite the Premier Inn.also buses go along this road.

That would be my suggestion

You can then head to Wales by picking up the M57 which is close to Aintree head for Runcorn and the M56 and then A55 to North Wales

Or drive into the City go via the Kingsway Tunnel and pick up the M53 and that will also lead you to North Wales.

You could also consider the Premier Inn at Rainhill which is at Junction 7 of the M62 whhich is closer to Wales than Aintree. You would then use the Park and Ride at Lea Green for Liverpool Lime Street station then bus or taxi to Anfield..

If you hck them out via a route finder you can then see which is the more convenient for you.

Set in a really nice location overlooking the golf course, the Premier Inn, Derby Lodge in Roby, it's just a minute from the M62 junction 5. Roby station,is just a couple of minutes walk and takes less than15 minutes into Lime Street or the bus stop outside will also take you straight into Liverpool. You can use the nearby Knowsley expressway (J6) to go over the Runcorn bridge and be well on your way to Wales.

Other Premier Inns east of the city are possible. Tarbock is also conveniently situated for the same junction with a bus stop nearby and St Helens South with access to Lea Green Station similar to Rainhill as leuca mentions in the previous post.

You should be aware that many of these get full on home games.

Great info,

Thank you that's exactly what I'm looking for. If it's a night match well do that

If it's a day match what's the best plan re parking for the day. Should it be a day game we won't stay the night in liverpool we would prefer to keep driving after the match

Obviously the closer you park near the ground the longer it will take to get clear at the end of the match.

So if you are travelling onto Wales being close to the motorway to the east of Liverpool might be a good plan.

Perhaps the Park and ride at Lea Green which is close to the Motorway network and about 35 minutes by train into Liverpool then a bus or taxi to the ground ?

nationalrail.co.uk/stations/leg/details.html

Or park near The Kingsway Tunnel which is only a couple of miles from the ground and travelling by the tunnel to pick up the M53 , but I am not sure of a secure car park in that area.

I am sure others who attend the matches more frequently than I do can give more detailed knowledge.

Just one thing to bear in mind though ,there are large car parks attached to supermarkets and retail parks close to Anfield and it can be tempting to park there. However many of them have time limits and are camera controlled and you can be traced via your car reg number. Your car hire company will just pass the " fine" (about 100AUD )to you via your credit card.

coming from the Lakes district, going the match, then on to north Wales

follow leuca's advice above, there several hotel's all handy for connections from the Lakes, all based around Switch Island/M58/M57/A59 (Netherton/Aintree)

there's

Premier Inn, Netherton (Switch Island)

Premier Inn, Aintree ***** by far the best option for several reasons, easy access, free parking, outside Aintree station, only 10-15 minutes from Anfield by taxi, easy access for onward journey to north Wales

or stay on the train for the park n ride service via Sandhills station

there's also a hotel called the Park Hotel (Netherton)

or the Royal Hotel, in Waterloo

don't wait to long to book, as most hotel fill up for Liverpool home games

If you are not staying over, park at Hooton! after the game you will not have to go through traffic to get to north Wales.

Personally I'd forget Hooten, it's on the Wirral

between Wirral & Chester

your driving past your destination (Anfield) the coming back on your self, to return to the same place

coming down from the Lakes, look around the M57, again Aintree would be ideal

What game you looking at ??

when booking a Premier Inn, some of them offer 2 rates

a Saver rate (non refundale)

&

a Flexiable rate (you can cancel this booking and get a full refund)

I have just done a random search for the Premier Inn (Aintree) for Mar.8.2013

Saver rate is £80, Flexiable rate is £82
