I wouldn't say that there any "cute pedestrian shopping areas" in Liverpool.

The main shopping area in Liverpool is Liverpool One and the roads adjacent to it - Lord Street, Whitechapel and Church Street.

It has all of the main high street shops and some designer clothes stores. Worth a stroll around, but I wouldn't call the area "cute"!

At the top of Church Street is Bold Street which has several charity shops, vintage clothing stores, coffeeshops and restaurants; but again, I wouldn't call it "cute", although St Luke's "bombed out" church at the top of the road is quite impressive.

There is an antique shop on Renshaw Street called 69a: yelp.co.uk/biz/69a-antique-dealers-liverpool

And further down on the same side of Renshaw Street is Grand Central (better known as Quiggins when it was on School Lane): yelp.co.uk/biz/…Quiggins

This event at St George's Hall may be of interest, and one of the dates is when you will be here:

But if you want "cute" shops then you need to go to Chester and see its famous Rows: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chester_Rows

Chester is easy to get to by train from Liverpool with 4 trains an hour and a journey time of 40 minutes.

Jump on the 86/86a along Smithdown road and then Allerton Road, Junction with Penny Lane..Seems that there are quite a few charity shops....

Gaz just reminded me that there are also a couple of antique shops along Smithdown Rd:

And there's another shop in between the above two shops (by the bus stop at the top of Russell Road/Crawford Avenue) that sells old furniture, household goods and brick-a-brac.

One option which is off most people's radar is Granby Four Streets Market - the community market which is run by volunteers living in the neighbourhood. It's small, but perfectly formed and non-profit making. It's held on the first Saturday of every month between April and September (and there is a Xmas one too).

There are bric-a-brac stalls, second hand clothes, arts and crafts, hot food etc. Usually between 10.30 and 3.00 depending on the weather. It's at it's best around lunch time.

It's on Cairns St, L8 2UW, which is a street where most of the houses are empty and boarded up, but the community has planted climbers up the empty houses and and lovely flowers all over the place. The market had been running for four years - this is the fifth year now.

So give it a try - it's a quirky option, and you might just be surprised. It's very near the city centre - so walkable or very easy on the bus.

What you seem to be searching for is more likely to be found in some of England's more historic cities, such as Chester or York. Liverpool does have some vintage shops but is a big city, with a bigger city feel.

Chester is indeed a good suggestion for what you are after. I would also suggest Southport, which is only 30mins by train & has a lovely Victorian shopping arcade. If weather is nice you may also fancy a stroll along the recently refurbished promenade or even the beach itself?
