If you want to try something a little different check out the Blackburne Arms Hotel on the corner of Falkner and Catherine streets. It's a gorgeous gastro-pub with 8 lovely rooms upstairs and is in a lovely neighbourhood of Georgian streets and squares on the eastern edge of the city centre.

There are plenty of other great boozers, bars and restaurants nearby on Hope Street and Hardman Street, too, so not too far to walk/stagger home after a night on the tiles. Both cathedrals are two minutes' walk away and Goodison Park is only five minutes by taxi. Obviously, you'll want to go there.
