Any London tips for big GBBO fans? (Great British bake off)

We will be spending a week in London later this year and are huge GBBO fans.

So any tips on where we can find good versions of GBBO classics like Victoria Sponge, Bakewell Tarts, Yorkshire Pudding, Jaffa cakes, or anything with lemon curd?

Also, any shops or restaurants that are owned by or partner with any of the contestants or Mary Berry or Paul Hollywood?

Any other advice is much appreciated as well.

Jaffa cakes can be found in any supermarket.

Lemon curd - Fortnum & Mason's is gorgeous. I've had it at their afternoon tea

The best Bakewell Tart is made in Bakewell in Derbyshire.

The best Yorkshire pudding can be found in Yorkshire, or anywhere up north. It isn't something I would associate with GBBO as it is commonly served as part of Sunday Lunch, with roast beef and roast potatoes.

They aren't GBBO classics - they were classics long before GBBO existed. You'll find them in supermarkets, bakeries, Fortnum's, Harrods food hall, farm shops & markets (e.g. Borough Market, etc, etc..If you can find a Women's Institute bake sale you'll probably find some very nice home-baked cakes.

Watirose & Marks & Spencer both have good own brand lemon curds. Waitrose also has the Duchy Originals one which is excellent. The Wilkins & Co/Tiptree lemon curd is lovely (try Waitrose or good grocery stores).

If you find Yorkshire puddings they will likely be frozen.

Jaffa Cakes will be in any supermarket.

You could take the Central Line to Gants Hill

Then go have a look at Valentines Mansion and Valentines Park, where the first ever series was filmed......

'anything with lemon curd' Have a go at making your own. I made many jars of the stuff last month to give away, building arm muscles as the recipe indicated 'stir constantly for 15 minutes' but that did make a velvety curd Use good quality unsalted butter, free range or free run eggs, unwaxed lemons and perhaps organic sugar if you want to push the boat out as the end product will reflect what's gone into it.

It sounds like a fantastic basis for a London trip!

If you go for Afternoon Tea at Fortnum's to try the lemon curd, try their Battenberg cake too ~ best I've had!!

Mary Berry has licensed a pudding range based on her "childhood memories available from Waitrose (and elsewhere) including an excellent bread and butter pudding and a new one that I am looking forward to trying, banana and butterscotch. You will though need an oven in your accommodation.
