London to Port Isaac

We’re traveling for first time in England on a tour. Have 2 extra days and would like to visit Port Isaac. How can we get there from London...and back to Gatwick for flight?

Thanks

A slightly flippant reply, I know - but -

Day 1 travel most of the day from London to Port Isaac; sleep 1 night and; Day 2 travel even more of the day from Port Issac to Gatwick.

If you've only 2 days in total, IMO it's not worth it going all that way to an out-on-a-limb part of England. If you had 4 days in total then it's still barely worth all that travel to Cornwall and back.

I’d agree with KWUK that this is just too far for only two days, but you might just be able to make it work by flying from Gatwick to Newquay and back and hiring a car to get to Port Isaac - not too far.

Port Isaac is a 4 hour train journey from Paddington, so agree that an overnight stay would be the better use of your time. Not sure I'd want to travel back on the same day as a flight from Gatwick.

I was assuming the flight home was on day 3 , but if not then it’s absolutely a non-starter.

The nearest train station to Port Isaac is a Bodmin. It would take another two and a half hours by public transport to get there.

The only viable option is to fly to Newquay, then hire car or taxi.

Two days is just not enough. Where is your tour going. Perhaps we can suggest somewhere more suitable in the time you have. For example, the South Downs national park is a much better fit with a Gatwick departure.

Wow, so glad I asked! Appreciate all your knowledgeable responses. Tour is of southern England. 7 days. Starts and ends in London. I’ll check out the park suggestion.
