1. Re: Some favorite signs in London

We've had similar threads before but I would like to repeat some of my favourites.

On Hampstead Heath - "Greyhounds wear cage type muzzles" (gnomic)

On the Tube - "Dogs must be carried" (what if you didn't bring one with you? )

Ditto "Please take all your belongings with you" - likewise, what if you didn't bring them all along?

"This door is alarmed"

Re Dogs must be carried. You would think someone could make a mint hiring out dogs for the purpose by now.

"Beware of children"

As an American this is amusing since "beware" in the US implies something to be afraid of. A similiar sign in the US would read:

"Watch for children"

We have alot in America around playgrounds that say:

Slow

children

at play

It's not their fault they are "slow", and I don't think it should be pointed out on signs. LOL

Dear Bob007:

Two of my favorite signs are:

"No naked lights" seen in a laundromat in Dorset

"Cats eyes removed" seen on an " A " road while traveling from Devon to Wells. When we stopped at a pub for a pit stop, we asked the publican what it meant. We were driving through farmland, and were afraid something terrible was being done to the local cats. Turns out Cats eyes were the reflectors imbedded in the roadway. After hearing the explanation I said, "Well, England and America are two countries divided by a common language" To which he replied, "Yes, but we speak it better!"

Cheers!

I enjoyed a good sign which said: Caution, lambs.

Rrrrargh, killer lambs.
