dance clubs

anyone have info on clubs which play deep house music? I haven't lived in London for a few years and am out of touch. I used to love Lazy Dog (Ben Watt Buzzin Fly)- any clubs/specific nights / DJs to know about?

I'm fast loosing touch aswell but have a browse of www.timeout.com/london - you can filter the club nights by genre etc.

Also if you have a decent newsagent that carrys some foreign publications look out a copy of Mixmag - might help a bit.

Googling London clubs and 90% seems to be R&B.

Try googlin Fabric and The End. I used to go to The Goods Yard of York Road (Bagleys) but I don't know what they have on these days.

Hoxton/Shoreditch is quite buzzy (apparently) for smaller venues.

Don't know what you do on Fridays but if you have suitable internet try listening in to Radio 1 Essential Selection - has a bit of a club round up and gives you a indication of what is dominating (currently leaning toward R&B)

Bagleys is no longer!!! I went past there the other week & its been knocked down : (

Yep almost everything is R&B, bashment, hip hop these days. Of all the fliers etc I've seen for house music is for old skool stuff or handbag.

The only place I can think of off the top of my head is Ministry of Sound.

Gosh I feel old!!! I haven't been raving since 1990 when it was all purple hooded tops, flared jeans & smilies. Don't even know what deep house is. LOL

Google ' house clubs london ' & it brings up quite a lot of sites which give info on venues.

The End in Holborn is pretty good - and so much better since the smoking ban!

And also The Cross in Kings Cross - havent been for a while but by far the best club in London in my opinion: http://www.the-cross.co.uk

thanx all for the suggestions, Sosho is one I found interesting. I do prefer smaller clubs mostly. Any feedback on this club? I think one is called Retox and another Muak...

Hi,

Retox at Sosho is an excellent Sunday nighter... although not so much deep house there- more electro, slightly techy house (although i haven't been for a bit!). it's a late one too...

as for deep house... well it's difficult to pick one club that comes up with the goods all the time, but (as was mentioned above) the likes of the ministry and Pacha have more soulful stuff going on usually. The end is superb, but possibly a little bit underground (on most nights), and Fabric is the same.

Well Ben watt used to be involved with Cherry Jam in west london, so you could always try there, plus Neighbourhood, Egg in King's Cross, and even Turnmills has Smartie partie on which might fit the bill.

if you're looking for a few more options i run the website www.londonlater.com which offers full lstings on bars and clubs with links to their sites also, which should help put you in the picture.

hope this helps!

john.
