Thames Barrier Appreciation Group (TBAG)

Just goes to show what a rebranding can do. Whilst the group was called Thames Barrier Appreciation Society (TBAS) there was only myself and Anemone. Change the name slightly so we can shorten it to TBAG and applications flood in, well 3 actually but that is still an increase of 150%. They all want to be TBAGs.

The main criteria is to have tried or have visisted the Barrier on the ferry. So far new additions (or hope to be soon) are Britfan, Tonymoco and allen074.

Thanks to Tony for the idea of a t-shirt with Barrier gates morphed into Tea bags) and britfan for an initiation ceremony consisting of a slap on each cheek with a wet teabag.

Curses I fall between the Sept and Oct tests.

Oh and if an excited woman from Iowa logs on to trip advisor asking about a Bridgette Jones festival at the Thames Barrier play along for my sake! :-)

The boat trip Barrier option takes about 30 minutes extra from the Greenwich option. You take the boat from Westminster and don't get off when it stops at Greenwich then it goes to the Barrier and you get off at Greenwich on the return leg.

As a founding member of the TBAG I highly reccommend the trip!

Once you arrive at Greenwich go to Goddard's Pie and Mash shop just down the road from the Cutty Sark statiion and have a traditional London lunch--Pie Mash Liqour and mushy peas. Very good very cheap and very authentic!

Thanks for the details about the test closings and the river trips to the Barrier.

This is so fun! I'm convinced. My life will not be complete until I join the TBAGs. Can't wait until September.
