waterloo platform designations

I will be travelling from Waterloo to hampton court.

Where can I find a guide and platform info. The floorplan on southwest lines pdf didn't have any co-ordinates to go along with the platforms :-(

Waterloo station has a large electronic display giving the destinations and the platforms from which the train will leave. Trains to Hampton Court leave from the lower-numbered platforms, which are on the right as you face the platforms. If you are travelling with other people, make sure you pick up a leaflet at the station information kiosk giving “2 tickets for the price of 1” entry to HC with that day’s train ticket.

Incidentally, if anyone would like to familiarise themselves with Waterloo Station in advance, get a DVD of the final Bourne film (“The Bourne Ultimatum”): it’s the station where the British journalist is assassinated.

Correction, it should be the "higher" numbered platforms, which are on the right as you face the platforms.

"Where can I find a guide and platform info"

Its *really* not necessary, there is just a long row of them from 1 to 19 across a couple of hundred metres or so. The boards tell you which one your train leaves from and there are displays outside each platform and on the platform as well.

Any kind of map or diagram would just make it more complicated than it is, but heres one

......platforms...........

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 etc up to 19

.......concourse............

.....shops ...............

OK? :-)

These trains normally go from platforms 16 to 19. 19 is set back a bit.

Also, keep an eye on the departure boards showing your platform number.....they played platform bingo for us and changed the d*mn train three times. When we got on the train we asked the guard just to confirm it was the correct one.

This service will not be going from 16 to 19.

Hampton Court services will(normally) go from platforms 1 to 6.

Unless things have changed in the last week or so, junglejim is the one who is correct and the Hampton Court train goes from the LOW numbered platforms 1-4 usually.

On Easter Sunday, the service to Hampton Court Palace was from track 16. That track was right outside the ticket office.

There were major rail works and timetable alterations at Easter weekend so I assume that is why there was a paltform change to 16 then. Normally, the train goes from the lower numbered platform.
