Help me solve a mystery.......

When I was in London two weeks ago I was walking by Christie'a Auction House on King Street when a car pulled out. It was an elegant white car (not a model I could recognize) and the passenger was in the back seat but could not be seen because curtains were drawn around him or her. The license plate number was 1C (or it could have been 1L - I can't remember what the letter is on London plates). Who do you think was in the car?

Lord Lucan!

(1C or 1L is just a personal plate, it could be anyone, or nobody, tho the plate would cost 5 figures)

The first number plate was A1, and issued in 1903.

They have gone through the alphabet and numbers and, historically, start again in a different form when they run out of options.

One can pay a charge to put a private number on their car.

There are places to buy them, eg http://www.selectnumberplates.co.uk/

The number you saw would be very expensive, as said before......car owned by someone very ostentatious.

Insightful is joking about that - I'm just stating the obvious in case anyone believes it. 1C or 1L would be an extremely expensive number but I've no idea who it is.
