Southern rail /group save

Can the group save rate be used for the train from LGW to Victoria Station? If so, do I just request it when I ask for tickets at LGW?

Certainly, and yes, just ask for a Groupsave ticket. They are only available off-peak.

Thank you. We are five adults arriving on Sunday so it will save us quite a bit!

Yeah, 5 travelling for the price of 3 is a good saving. Are you going to get Travelcards at Victoria? If not you might be able to get an inclusive rail ticket/travelcard on the same 5for3 terms.

seems obvious, but just in case, you cannot use the ticket on either Gatwick Express, or First Capital Connect services out of LGW. So it has to be a Southern Railways Train. So dont jump on an FCC and look to change at Clapham or East Croydon (for Victoria) if you do, then, if asked to show your ticket, you would be charged again.

Looks like the group fare will be £20, bargain! (doesnt include tube tho)

Thank you for the information. I purposely made our hotel reservations near Victoria Station at the Winchester Inn, so we can walk from the station. We are coming in on Sunday morning and departing the following Saturday so hopefully no crowds. We are buying the seven day paper travel cards for the 2 for 1 offers.

Will I be able to purchase the group save ticket (family of 3 adults,1 child) at Gatwick airport or do you have to order it online?

Thanks

Slightly confusing, but here goes:

Groupsave tickets can be bought at the station on the day, and allow 3-4 people to travel for the price of 2 adults. Children pay £1 each (up to 4 kids). These are off-peak tickets only.

Daysave tickets are different: you must purchase these online, at least 7 days in advance. 3-4 people have unlimited off-peak travel on the Southern network on the day of validity for £20 (kids are £1).

Was about to just post the link to the First Scotrail site for groupsave

www.scotrail.co.uk/content/groupsave.html

Anyway just ask for a group ticket. You can also tak ethe train to Falkirk Grahamston which is more in the centre of Falkirk, it depends on where you are staying. The Falkirk Grahmaston trin will go to Dunblane or Stiling and the Falkirk Hit to Glasgow Queen Street.

If you get a group ticket it should save you about 50% on the normal price.
