Musical for a 14 year old boy

Can anyone recommend a good London musical that would be suitable for a 14 year old boy - and his Mum!

Thanks for any suggestions.

We will rock you for me, we took our son who was 16 at the time and he really enjoyed it, and so did we.

Avenue Q. You'd be the coolest Mum on the planet.

Another vote for "We Will Rock You". We were there last month and the audience was filled with kids who were having the times of their lives.

So were we, btw.

Just so you know, Avenue Q really isn't for kids, it is puppets but there is simulated puppet sex, a song about internet porn, etc. I know kids are exposed to a lot these days but I would have been a little embarrassed if I had taken my 12 and 14 year old niece and nephew. Here's the blurb from their website:

"Adults love AVENUE Q, but they seem a little, er, fuzzy on whether it's appropriate for kids. We'll try to clear that up. AVENUE Q is great for teenagers because it's about real life. It may not be appropriate for young children because AVENUE Q addresses issues like sex, drinking, and surfing the web for porn. It's hard to say what exact age is right to see AVENUE Q - parents should use their discretion based on the maturity level of their children. But we promise you this - if you DO bring your teenagers to AVENUE Q, they'll think you're really cool."

Iam afraid i agree with LoveChicago AveQ is not really suitable there are much better and more enjoyable shows in the West End that, shall we say, better suited for a 14 year old

First of all, my recommendation. Blood Brothers really seems to capture the imagination of youngsters. Probably because there is a coheisve story underpinning the musical (unlike many of the other musical offerings).

As regards what's suitable for a teenager of 14, it's a long time since I was a teenager. But, judging by the conversations I hear between groups of teenagers on public transport from time to time, I would have thought that the vast majority of modern-day teenagers were sufficiently knowledgeable to attend Avenue Q without being in the least surprised by either its songs or dialogues.
