Easter Opening times for London attractions 2009

As people are starting to ask about Easter I thought I'd do my usual post and provide details of opening times during the Easter holiday.

In the UK, Good Friday and Easter Monday are bank holidays so the lucky ones amongst us get a 4 day break from work. Also, the schools close down for 2 weeks at Easter so expect more families at attractions during this time.

Basically, the British Museum is closed on Good Friday, Westminster Abbey and St Paul's are open for worship only on Good Friday and Easter Sunday and Windsor castle has some closure.

Trains, tubes, buses will be running, however there will be engineering work on some lines. The link below has details.

tfl.gov.uk/assets/…track-closures.pdf

If travelling on National Rail, you'd be best to check on www.nationalrail.co.uk to see if there are any engineering works.

And for the shoppers amongst you, all the large stores will be closed on Easter Sunday as it is the law that large stores close on this day. Smaller stores, restaurants and cafes should be open as usual.

Tube closures for the weekend can be found here - http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/livetravelnews/realtime/by-date.aspx?offset=weekend

The main difficulties will be caused by the closure of the Circle line for the entire 4 days. It should also be noted that the bulk of the Jubilee line is closed on Saturday the 11th only, the Central line east of Liverpool Street is down on Sunday, Goodge Street station is shut and no Northern line trains will stop at Kings Cross over the four days.
