Need help finding a self-catering apartment

My wife and I will be going to London for a few days this summer. We are on an incredibly tight budget. We are looking for a place to stay with a kitchen (or at least a microwave). We are not concerned with size or luxury, we are just looking for a comfortable bed to sleep in and a place we might be able to cook a meal or two. I've read others posts on apartments and I must admit, most of the places are too expensive for us. If anyone has any ideas at all, we'd love to hear them. Thanks in advance!

try www.hamletuk.com - located near the Tower of London - a slight bit out of the way but in a nice residential area.

also, try the Goodenough club - www.goodenough.ac.uk and click on the link to lodging. Although not apartments, they are affordable and offer breakfast and some other amenities.

www.lfca.co.uk - London First Choice Apartments, and look at the standard apartments for a studio - those could be within range.

don't wire any money to anyone - always pay by credit card.

Have a look at this site,

http://www.central-london-apartments.com/

look at the bronze balloons on the interactive map (bronze being the lower rates). 202 Apartments is on there but they also have their own site you can check out

http://www.202apartments.com/

You'll find a lot of bronze around Bayswater/Notting Hill area, good locations and from reviews I've read, not bad for the prices. (If memory serves Vancouver Studios is supposed to be okay....basic and clean).

Aston's Apartments, not far from Gloucester Road station, have kitchenettes and small but comfortable flats. You may stay one night or several months, which is a nice plus, as some flats rent for a minimum of a week.

Also consider www.london-rooms.com which offers flats in Barking; it's in zone 4, but with the District line and c2c trains to Fenchurch Street isn't really too far a schlep to the city. The flats are very near the station - a plus - and there is shopping nearby; the prices may be within your budget as well.
