For 15 days I was trying to plan a trip to London that I didn’t even know if it was going to happen (work during the “crunch” can be very unpredictable) and this is why I did not write anything on the forums. Finally, just a few days before I was planning to depart, I found out that I was actually going to make it! I left on the 21st and came back yesterday.
This was not one of my usual shopping/fun trips, as I had some very important appointments and members of my family to see but I still managed to have lunch at Galvin@Windows (AMAZING), Tea at Harrods (Terrace, it was wonderful), I went to the Madonna exhibition, I was introduced to a very nice Indian restaurant (thank you, you know who you are), I got asked on a date (said no, didn’t have time for that), I tried two ales and a very nice single malt and I shopped A LOT! I also tried the Oyster Bar of Whole Foods (yum), I paid my usual visit to the Crispy Duck (the rude manager was not there this time) and I had meals from Micky’s and other humble places like Square Pie, M&S, Burger King, Piazza, a pub and a Chinese buffet in Camden (I know, I know, I’m lousy with names).
Although I always found London quite cheap (if you knew where to go), this time was beyond prayers and imagination. The prices were great! Sales, promotions and offers everywhere, even Burberry and Harrods (the sales on the handbags were to die for)! I was pleasantly surprised with the way the crisis is handled, I wish we had the same reactions here as well but I guess that’s too much to ask for.
Anyway, back to happy thoughts, I went for the first time to a TKMaxx in London (High Street Kensington) and it was a pleasant surprise. I bought presents for my friends and family and some nice things for me. The best buy from there was a Kathy handbag. I am also very excited with the gifts I got from Clinique, both in Boots and Selfridges! I took advantage of the sales in Harrods, Debenhams, Next and I emptied a few shelves of New Look, Primark, Boots, Monsoon, Jane Norman and a few others.
I will post a review for Galvin and the Terrace soon but they were both perfect!
That’s all from my last-minute-and-a-bit-stressed trip. I do hope to have more time next time but it’s better this than nothing and I think I did pretty well considering the circumstances. After all, I came back with 3 extra pieces of luggage (in total, they were 4 plus my hand luggage) and 3 extra kilos (yeah, like I’d tell you the total)!!! Now, any volunteers to help me unpack and do the laundry? NO? Fair enough…
P.S. For the ladies: If you pass-by Harrods, try the new Vera Wang perfume. It’s exclusive to Harrods and it smells divine!
