National Express From Gatwick

First visit to London next week on the cheap. Can anyone tell me how reliable the coach is? and since time is not of the essence, the hour and 1/2 really won't bother us travelers but I'm not really sure where they drop off in central London. Is the drop off near Victoria Station? Map is hard to read. Thanks

National Express are reliable and prompt (if traffic congestion allows!). They have numerous departures for London, i think like 4+ per hour. The coach station (on Buckingham Palace Road) is a 5 min (or less) walk from Victoria Rail Station.

this might help

National Express coaches to Victoria are very reliable...the thing that you won't be able to bank on is the traffic. Victoria coach station is across the road from Victoria train/tube station.

One more question? Which is more scenic? Train or bus? Not sure if the express is mostly underground?

The Gatwick express train is overground so you'll have scenery the whole way.

Personally I'd go for the train rather than the bus as I think it's a nicer journey but that's just me.

No question about it - take the train! I live near Gatwick and never consider going into central London by road. There will be congestion - unless you're arriving in the small hours of the morning.

Have a great trip.

Sold me on the train - Hope everyone we encounter are delightful as yourselves! I also see there is a special fare in place 4 can ride for 2 adult fares however one child is 14 yrs of age. But when all averaged, it is not that much more for the train. Thanks again
