food items in carry on luggage

I am flying on 13th to London through gulf airlines. I would like to know if food items are usually allowed in carry on hands baggage on the plane. Are there any restrictions to carry food items on the plane. I will have a pack of dates.

Actually my first question was whether Heartrow airport authrities allow food items. This question relates more to the airline and asks whether one can take food item inside the plane

For questions like this, it's best to check with your airline rather than ask on a forum.

Having said that, I imagine a lot depends on whether you plan to eat them on the plane before you arrive in the UK, as there are food restrictions upon entering the UK.

From the Customs website:

<<If you are travelling from a country outside the

EU, there are restrictions on bringing fruits,

vegetables, seeds and bulbs into the UK....

See the leaflet ‘Bringing fruits, vegetables or

plant products into the UK’ for an overview of

the restrictions which is available to download

through the UK Border Agency website,

www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk>>

The OP has been given the DEFRA advice on importing dates into the UK on his previous post, but as this is an airline specific question, I'm not sure why the London forum would be the font of knowledge?! I'd echo the advice to contact the airline direct. We're not even sure of the airline, so I can't see how we could even start to form an opinion.

The OP said "I am flying on 13th to London through gulf airlines" - I'm assuming Gulf Air?

Try asking their call centre... Saudi Arabia (between 0800 and 2200 hours local)

From elsewhere in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: 03 8499444
