London then and now: Photographs of London streets taken 60 years apart
Thanks for the link, Bri; great photos!
Wonderful photographs; thank you very much for sharing, jdbri.
And a remarkably bad call by the council staff member(s) who chose to dispose of the photos - grrrrr.
Lovely pics! Managed to guess about half. It's amazing how some places hardly change while others are utterly transformed. Thanks for posting them.
*nods* Who would throw them out except a cultural criminal? Surely there must be plenty of libraries and historical societies who would love to have photos like those in their collection.
I also guessed only about half of them. Crikey, I even took some cash out of one of those theatres about two nights ago! It's the one that is on Haymarket which is now an RBS bank.
Cheers jdbri, it's a nice article.
Great Bri, thanks!
Thanks. I got the first two right, thought it would be a breeze, and did not recognize another one. The Hungerford Bridge columns look familiar. Are they the ones that are still standing in the river after the bridge was replaced? How confused am I?
"Are they the ones that are still standing in the river after the bridge was replaced? How confused am I?"
Very. The columns I think you are referring to are the ones next to Blackfriars Railway Bridge.
I only guessed 6. But I enjoyed it! :-)
Thanks, Mick. Very confused is normal for me.
