Bond Street. Yes, there should be sales in most shops, usually from Boxing Day or 27 December, but some might start a bit later. Depending on the shop and on the supplies goods may be picked over in January, but there's no guarantee that there won't be bargains to be had, depending on your willingness to look or the shop you visit.

The Covent Garden TL is certainly central, and a decent enough hotel, perhaps a five minute walk from Covent Garden Underground. There are a great many buses along New Oxford Street, Charing X Road, Shaftesbury Avenue and High Holborn as options to the Underground in the Covent Garden area as well.

Whether or not you may book if under 18... give the hotel a shout to enquire. Rather than the 0871 number try 020 7208 9988.

Virgin Trains allow tickets to be booked by one person and used by another, so your parents could book the tickets but you may travel with them. If you haven't a credit card then how will you manage payment for the Travelodge, if that's where you choose to stay?

The Help page at the Virgin Trains website indicates that it is often possible to book tickets for another person; the link is too long to post here but have a look at the Help page. Alternately, telephone Virgin Trains at 0121 634 2040 to enquire.
