Nice Heathrow Hotel handy for Hex, Parking and Bus

Need suggestions for a nice four star airport hotel, suitable to use as a base for people arriving by plane, by Reading Railair bus, and by car. A Car park is essential.

A day in London via Hex is also on the cards. Looking for a hotel with a pleasant enough environment to do a bit of work and with decent food. One that is a convenient option given the above requirements. Tall order?

Thank you :)

My favourite hotel at Heathrow is the Marriott. It has parking - not sure what the rates are though, nice restaurants and a Costa and the staff there are GREAT.

I take the bus from across the road to LHR Central bus station and from there into London via tube or HEX.

No contest, Jurys by Hatton Cross so you can tube straight in to London, or get there easily (1 stop) from LHR, much quicker than a bus or shuttle bus.

For any of the outside the airport hotels, by the time you have faffed about getting into the airport and then got the HEX, and then got the tube into London central, (since the HEX only takes you to Paddington), the tube will be quicker, and you'll be some £20 better off each.

The Reading folks can take a short tube ride to meet you at HC if you will be convening there, or if just meeting you in London somewhere, go in directly from Reading train station rather than take a roundabout journey via Heathrow and HC.

We've stayed at both the Heathrow Marriott and the Sheraton Skyline and I would recommend either one. The car park at the Marriott was £9 per day (this was a year or so ago) and not sure about the Sheraton.

Both hotels are next to each other so, as AfricanDaisy mentioned, close to the free local bus stops to the central bus terminal at T123.

There is also a nice pub within walking distance to the hotels. The Pheasant Inn is located at the end of the street that runs alongside the Marriott. It's about a ten minute walk.

Gotta agree with Joe on this one (alert the media, ring the church bells!!) and suggest Jurys. It might not be the poshest hotel in the area but the Hatton Cross location makes getting to London easy on the tube, it is quite airy with plenty of seating (when the air crews aren't waiting around) and has a decent bar and resturant.

Thanks all for the tips and recommendations. Sounds like a toss up between a bit of posh, or some cheaper and cheerful. Will have to put it to a vote.

Invaluable and speedy information, as per usual. Many thanks all!

Marriott parking is £12/day if you're a resident.

Skyline is actually cheaper, can't remember how much though. It's quite possible to park in the Skyline car park and walk next door to the Marriott.

Don't you just hate it when you give someone the benefit of your advice and then they go and do something completely different? Ungrateful so-and-so!

What I mean is thanks for all the advice, it was much appreciated, but we ended up at the Radisson Edwardian Heathrow due to a rather lovely discounted rate of less than 90quid a night. The car park had plenty of room for those that needed it and I had no trouble getting to the hotel via the Reading bus airlink service and the airport Hoppa bus.

Breakfast was extra, and I'm still wincing over the price of my two g&ts (18 smackeroos), but overall it was excellent and the staff we're really helpful all the way. Even had the barman calling me by the name on my keycard wallet, and no, it wasn't Mrs Smith. Superb breakfasts!

Glad (mutter) that you (tsk tsk) had a good (grrr) stay :-)

And that car park is certainly massive.

Erm cheers Adam. I did consider slinking away and not saying anything, but that's bad form. Gotta face the music/give feedback. The final decision was not mine this time.

thanks again;-)
